Exclusive, Accredited Training Courses in...
Management of Medication and Anaphylaxis / Epipen Training in Schools and Educational Settings

We are often asked what training is required for school staff

It is a common misconception that a First Aid certificate is all that is required.

Training is required by the DfE Statutory Guidance – Supporting Pupils with Medical Conditions – December 2015

This guidance states that:

A first-aid certificate does not constitute appropriate training in supporting children with medical conditions.

Staff must not give prescription medicines or undertake healthcare procedures without appropriate training (updated to reflect requirements within individual healthcare plans).

Sector-Leading Staff Courses for Managing Medication and Anaphylaxis/Epipen Training.

Bruce Davies is the UK’s leading consultant in the management of medication and Controlled Drugs in education settings and is delighted to announce details of the courses available. Our unique exclusive bespoke training is delivered by leading experts,  all of the course material is constantly reviewed and updated. The One Day Level 2 and Three Day Level 3 courses for School and Childcare staff, now include training from a Medical Practitioner in anaphylaxis signs and symptoms and competency assessment in the safe administration of Adrenaline auto-injectors / Epipens.

Having worked in schools for the same authority for almost a decade, I have never experienced such an insightful and informative course, that not only raised awareness as to issues being tackled in school but also highlighting potentials in the future to come.

It is so important that schools, educational settings and otherwise attend courses about administrating medicine, even higher level first aid courses that I have attended do not cover or qualify for this. Medicines is a huge ‘grey area’ where unfortunately is often only prioritised if something goes wrong.

This course enables a proactive rather than reactive approach to become reality, there are ready to go tools which can be easily implemented and monitored as part of school policy. If you want to develop safe administration of medicines for those administering and those receiving medicine then this is the course for you!

The school I work at was looking someone to deliver Administering Medication and Appointed Person training. I was given the contact details for Bruce. Not only did he come to my school to deliver the training for 8 staff he also arranged to do my Appointed Persons training at my school in a 1-1 situation as he knew that we needed the training to be delivered as a matter of urgency. Bruce managed to deliver it in 3 days.

I needed to make sure that I could guarantee that my school would have all the relevant qualifications and knowledge required to safely and competently administer medication. The course that Bruce delivers runs alongside all DfE guideline. The exceptional and professional training was both informative and enjoyable. This allowed me to put in place a framework that complies with all DfE guidelines. The course covers all requirements needed to ensure that the school can run efficiently. All information and paperwork is covered on the course.

Bruce is an excellent trainer; he is both funny and informative in a way that allows all types of learners to access the course. I would highly recommend this course to all schools who do not have the training.

I would also like to say how immensely useful and informative I found the 3-day course and going through it all again while completing the assignment. We have already made a lot of changes within our school following this, with more to do. I have also been asked to implement new procedures for our pre-school as well so they are in line with the main school. Thank you so much.

The course was very informative and the way you presented it with your stories instead of just preaching data and facts was brilliant, I feel I have learnt a lot and felt more confident when a parent approached me to discuss their child's medication yesterday.

I have told senior management how interesting it was and that more people need to attend.

I thoroughly enjoyed the course. Something that I haven't said for a very long time!

The course was very informative and the delivery of it was excellent. You imparted the information in a way that, admittedly I thought was going to take longer than necessary, but in hindsight I realised that by doing it the way you did I actually remember it and know that the knowledge you imparted will stay with me and be easily recalled when needed and I thank you for that.
